Glow Music Newsletter

November 2025

Happy Thanksgiving!

In this edition of our quarterly newsletter, I’m excited to invite you to support Glow Music on Giving Tuesday, share updates on Concert Number Six, celebrate news from our past participants, and share an update on my recent move to St. Louis!

Giving Tuesday — December 2

After the excitement of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday is the perfect moment to support the organizations you care about.

Glow Music is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and your donations help us:

  • uplift young musicians

  • create innovative programming

  • bring inspiring artists to Cincinnati

If you’re able, we would be so grateful for your support this season. Your donation may be tax-deductible.

Mark Your Calendar! - Concert Number Six

We’re thrilled to announce that Concert Number Six will take place on April 11, 2026, at First Unitarian Church in Cincinnati. They hosted us this past spring, and we’re so happy to return—the space is beautiful, and the team there has been incredibly welcoming.

Introducing Our New Mentorship Program

This year, we launched something I’m especially excited about: a Mentorship Program for our student artists. The music world is changing quickly, and I want our young musicians to hear real, honest insight from professionals who are navigating that world right now.

Jamie Clark, cello

Andrea Baker, bassoon

Our first mentors, Dr. Jamie Clark and Dr. Andrea Baker, bring experience in new music, freelancing, ensemble development, entrepreneurship, and academia. This season, they will meet our student artists via Zoom, but we hope to bring them to Cincinnati in the future for in-person coaching and community engagement. Stay tuned!

Applications Were Incredible

This year, we opened the call to trios and quartets. We are also hosting electronic music! (Still classical music :-) We received a truly inspiring set of applications from performers and composers for Concert Number Six. The creativity and artistry were outstanding, and making final selections was no easy task!
We’ll be announcing the results soon, so keep an eye on our social media:

Alumni News

We love celebrating the wonderful things our past participants are doing!

  • Yasmine Bougacha (Concert Number Four) is currently in Italy as a Fulbright Scholar!

  • Wenbin Lyu (Concert Number Five) was named Composer of the Year by East Zodiac Music, and his Galactic Playground was performed by Eight Blackbird at Eyrie Festival in Chicago.

  • Catherine Fields (Concert Number Five) has received a commission from Schwabische Bläserphilharmonie (Germany) and is also working on a string quartet for New Downbeat’s International Women’s Day concert and a commission for the Akropolis Reed Quintet.

A Little Personal Update

I recently moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where I am now working full-time in the Music Department at Washington University in St. Louis, teaching and collaborating with students and colleagues. It has been such a rewarding transition—I’m surrounded by wonderful colleagues, and I’ve already fallen in love with the campus. I’m excited to keep exploring the city and to connect with local musicians here. I will still be travelling to Cincinnati!

Yours truly,
